Welcome to Horizon

Your first visit,
made simple.

The only thing more stressful than a dental visit is visiting a new dentist. Here's exactly what happens, what to bring, and how insurance works — so there are no surprises.

Good to know

Before your first appointment

  • New patients of every age are welcome
  • Direct billing with many major insurers
  • Sedation and anxiety support available
  • Parking beside the office, accessible entry
Not sure if you need a checkup first? Ask Sunny in the chat bubble — she can point you to the right appointment.

Your first visit

Three calm steps.

01

Book a new-patient exam

Choose a general checkup online and tell us you're new. We reserve extra time for a full history and conversation.

02

We review your history

Bring your medication list, insurance details and any recent X-rays. We'll ask about past treatment and what matters to you.

03

A clear plan, in writing

We examine, take low-dose images if needed, and explain what we found — with options and a written estimate before anything starts.

Come prepared

What to bring

Arrive 10–15 minutes early with these, and check-in will take a couple of minutes. If you forget something, it's not a problem — we'll help.

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card or policy details
  • A list of medications and allergies
  • Recent X-rays, if available
  • Any questions you've been saving up

Questions, answered

New patient FAQs

Still unsure about something? Call the office or ask Sunny — no question is too small.

250-635-1213
Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We welcome new patients of every age, including families new to Terrace. Book a new-patient exam online and we will reserve enough time to review your history and answer questions before any treatment.

Do you bill my dental insurance directly?

We can arrange direct billing for many major Canadian insurers. Bring your policy details to your first visit and our front desk will confirm your coverage. You are always responsible for any portion your plan does not cover.

What should I do about a dental emergency?

Call us at 250-635-1213 as early in the day as possible — we hold room in the schedule for urgent care. For facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, or a knocked-out tooth, seek urgent medical attention immediately.

I'm anxious about dental visits. Can you help?

Absolutely. Tell us when booking that you would like a little extra support. We offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation options, longer appointment times and a no-rush approach where you set the pace.

How much will my treatment cost?

Fees depend on the treatment, your insurance and your clinical needs, so we give you a written estimate before starting. A new-patient exam is the best first step if you would like an accurate picture.

Can I bring my children?

Yes — children are very welcome. Our office has a kids' play zone, and we recommend a first visit by age one or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short and positive.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to change or cancel. You can reschedule or cancel online from the My Appointments page, or call the office and we will help.

Where can I park?

There is parking next to our office at 4663 Park Avenue, with an accessible entrance. If you have mobility concerns, call ahead and our team will meet you at the door.

How do digital X-rays work?

Digital sensors capture an image with a much lower dose than traditional film, and the image appears on screen within seconds. We use them only when they will change a diagnosis or treatment decision.
